Every now and then I see a gadget that has class written all over it.  The Magic Wand remote control is one such gadget.  It looks like a magic wand.  It has no buttons.  Just wave the wand and it will control your audio visual device (eg TV).  Yes you do have to train it, so it can understand which gestures map to which remote operations (eg changing channels, volume and power on and off etc).

Once programmed, it is very impressive to use.  It is even better when you hide your normal remote from others in the family.
